NCVT stands for National Council of Vocational Training. It is a government body under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) that regulates the Vocational Training System in India. The NCVT was set up by the Government of India in 1956 as a statutory body to promote and coordinate vocational training activities across the country. It works with various state governments, educational institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders to improve the quality of skill development initiatives in India.

The main objectives of NCVT are to create an enabling environment for skill development and vocational training programmes throughout the nation; to promote excellence in vocational education; to develop technical manpower within the country; and to provide better employment opportunities for skilled workers. The NCVT sets national standards for curricula, syllabi, qualifications, certification and accreditation of vocational training programmes. It also provides direction and guidance to organisations engaged in skill development activities.
