The full form of NEET in education is ‘National Eligibility cum Entrance Test’. NEET is a single entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various medical and allied courses such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, etc. It was introduced in 2021 by the Government of India as a part of its efforts to improve access to higher education and professional training.

NEET has been designed to provide an opportunity to students from all over India to pursue their dreams of studying medicine. The exam tests the knowledge and skills required for different branches of medical science, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and pathology. The syllabus for the exam covers topics from all these areas along with general aptitude tests on logical reasoning and english language comprehension.

To be eligible for NEET examination, candidates must have passed 10+2 examinations or any equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate score of 50%. Additionally, they need to have achieved a minimum percentile score in each subject as prescribed by the NTA. Candidates also need to meet certain age requirements set out by respective universities that offer MBBS/BDS/AYUSH courses.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions divided into two parts: Physics & Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). Each question carries four marks for correct answer and one mark is deducted for incorrect answer. The total marks are 720 marks (180 from Physics & Chemistry and 180 from Biology). The duration of the exam is three hours in which candidates can attempt all 180 questions within this time limit.

On successful completion of the exam, qualified candidates are placed in a merit list based on their scores obtained in NEET 2021. This list helps universities decide who will get admission into their respective medical colleges or institutes offering MBBS/BDS/AYUSH courses across India. After getting selected through NEET 2021, students must go through further counselling process organized by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). This process helps them choose colleges according to their preferences based on the seats allocated by MCC during counselling sessions.
