Candidates belonging to Persons with Disability category must hold a minimum aggregate score of 45%.

The exam consists of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I comprises questions related to General Aptitude while Paper II tests candidate’s knowledge in their chosen subject area. Both papers are divided into three sections: A, B and C. Each paper has 50 multiple choice questions carrying 2 marks each. The duration for each paper is 1 hour 30 minutes where no extra time is given for answering any question.

Candidates who clear the cut off marks set by NTA will be declared qualified under UGC-NET. After qualifying UGC-NET, candidates can apply for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position or be recruited as an Assistant Professor in one of the many recognized universities/colleges across India. The validity period for this exam is two years from the date of declaration i.e., if you qualify today then you are eligible till two years from today’s date.
