Union Public Service Commission, more commonly known as UPSC, is an independent body of the Government of India. It is responsible for conducting examinations and selecting candidates for various posts in the Central Government, including Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS) and other services like Indian Engineering Services (IES).

UPSC was established in 1926 and is headquartered in New Delhi. It has seven members who are appointed by the President of India. The Chairman of UPSC is appointed for a term of six years or until he reaches the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
